Sound the fanfare of summer:

A ninety-nine cornet parade!

Come in Kias ... Come in Mercs!

Join our seaside cavalcade!


Roll-up ... Roll-up the tinfoil sea!

Lay bare ... the yellow strand

The beach-playground is open,

But ... we're awfully short on sand


Quick, unfurl that tartan blanket!

Let's stake some sort of claim!

Grab our own secluded patch!

Everyone else is doing the same!


A stripy windbreak ... even better!

As effective as the Berlin Wall!

Cheek by jowl at West Wittering,

But don't speak to anyone at all!
